Remembering Mr Ronald Henry Ogier

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the recent passing of Mr. Ronald Henry Ogier, a dedicated and longstanding member of the School.

Ron was appointed to the English Department by Mr. James Wilson Hogg in February 1966. Over the course of his career, Ron taught English, Latin, History, and Geography. He was also the Kerrigan Housemaster for many years, demonstrating a commitment to both academic excellence and pastoral care.

From 1977 to 1984 Ron, alongside Mr Donald Holder, the Master of Chapel Musick, led the entire School in hymns and songs every Thursday during assemblies.

In addition to his teaching duties, Ron was involved in the School’s Cadets and played an active role in the direction of many School dramatic productions, contributing to the co-curricular life of Trinity.

After retiring from teaching in 1999, Ron’s connection to the School remained strong. In 2001, he joined the Support Staff team in the Publications Department, where he continued his work as editor of The Triangle and took on the role of School Photographer. Ron faithfully served in these roles until his final retirement in 2019.

We extend our condolences to Ron’s family and all those who knew him. His impact on our community both in and out of the classroom, will be remembered fondly by all.

A funeral service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held in the Trinity Grammar School War Memorial Chapel on Saturday, 14 September, at 2pm. All are welcome to attend.
