Trinitarian Raf MacMillan has played a key role in Australia’s U19 World Cup cricket triumph over India.
The Class of ’22 off-spinner took three wickets in the final at Benoni, South Africa, as Australia dismissed India for 174 inside 44 overs to win convincingly by 79 runs.
His figures of 3-43 off 10 overs included a wicket with his first ball when he had the dangerous Sachin Das caught behind.
The 19-year-old complemented his side’s four-pronged pace attack, ensuring India always struggled to match Australia’s 7-253.
The new generation of stars secured Australia’s first U19 World Cup since Mitchell Marsh led his side to victory in 2010, and emulated the senior side’s World Cup victory over India three months earlier.
