An Invitation | Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

One of the highlights of the annual Music and Religious calendars of the year is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. This service has been a tradition in the Anglican Church since 1880, when a service was created which tied hymn singing and choral motets to readings from both the Old and New Testament which told of the prophecies and events surrounding the birth of Jesus. The first service was celebrated at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall. More recently, it most notably features as a premier event at King's College Cambridge.

The tradition of holding this service at Trinity is long standing and has provided an opportunity for the school community to gather and join in song and reflect on the word of God, in celebration of the approach of Christmas.

Please join us for this splendid event, which combines the forces of our Choirs, Brass Ensemble and Strings, along with the magnificent War Memorial Chapel Organ.

There are two services, Friday, 28 November at 7pm and Sunday, 30 November at 7pm. The Sunday service concludes with a supper to which you are also welcome.
