Class of 1973 - 50 Year Reunions

The Class of 1973 held a very successful 50-year reunion on 9 September, commencing with an excellent tour of the school led by Stephen Heanly, during the course of which we were lucky enough to chance upon the Headmaster and his charming wife with whom we had a very enjoyable chat. The men were most impressed with the significant development of the School since their days attending. They were pleased to see that special areas, such as the Chapel, were largely as they remembered them. A lovely contrast of old and new, creating a unified whole.

After the tour the men retired to the familiar surroundings of the Summer Hill Hotel, which unlike most of their own company, had had a significant makeover in the intervening years since 1973!  There the men were greeted by the very friendly, efficient and helpful staff led by Drue Smith. By this stage the gathering amounted to around 30 participants. The men proceeded to mingle and to chat about old times and the present day, re-telling stories of their glorious feats and daring adventures, analysing the state of Australian Rugby and discussing matters of state, whilst partaking of food and refreshments. The evening concluded around midnight and, by all reports, was a great success!
