On 18 November 2022, 34 Old Boys and four teachers gathered for a 50-year reunion of the Trinity Preparatory School 6th class of 1972. Old Boys came from as far away as Perth and Rockhampton for the special event.
A small number of boys who began at Trinity in 1965 (Kindergarten) or 1966 (Transition) met at "Lauriston" on the corner of The Boulevarde and Margaret St, Strathfield, for a tour of what was then known as Junior House, now known as Santa Maria del Monte school. The group then headed up The Boulevarde to the Preparatory School where they were joined by the rest of the attendees. Head of the Preparatory School, Chris Wyatt, took the group on a tour of the Prep. While much of the school has changed since 1972, the main building, Llandilo, brought back many memories of a bygone era. The tour was a stop-start affair with Old Boys reminiscing in their old classrooms which all agreed seemed much bigger 50 years ago.
From there the group adjourned to Strathfield Golf Club for dinner and speeches from all. Conveners Sandy Malley and John Debenham even reprised their old school uniforms to MC the evening which brought quite a laugh. It came as no surprise that Old Boys had retained great memories from their time at Trinity Prep. Popular recollections included:
The attendees were especially honoured to be joined by teachers Max Brand (6T); James Southwood (Music); Barrie McNicoll (3L and 5T) and Jenny Hennell (Transition).
