Peter Bruce Steward | 05/01/1956 – 31/01/2025 (69 Years)
Peter was born to Bruce and Gweneth Steward in Prospect NSW. Peter and Joanne, his sister, shared many happy times growing up on acreage chasing, playing and doing all things that siblings do.
Peter's father worked long hours and couldn’t take holidays, so his grandparents took both Peter and Joanne on cruises, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Peter attended Prospect Primary School until high school, when he attended Trinity Grammar School. He really enjoyed the friendships he made there, especially Rob Ward, Dave Perry, George Hovan and John Swift.
Peter enjoyed sport such as Rugby and Swimming and achieved his Instructor Qualifications. Peter was so happy at school; he would say to me that the discipline from the teachers and the mentors that he had made him who he was today.
Once Peter left school, he really enjoyed going back to Reunions, looking around the School and seeing what they had done or what was being proposed. While some of his other friends got rid of their school uniforms, Peter kept all his folded neatly and stored.
Peter studied Accounting and worked in that field for some time when he wasn’t self employed in the family Milk Run or Shoe Shop. Peter enjoyed working and that was a big part of his life. Eventually, Peter went back to Charles Sturt University and graduated in 2015. We were all so proud of him.
Peter was a Christian and went to fellowship at St John's Parramatta. We started dating and were married 40 years ago, in September 1985. In 1988, our daughter Emma was born.
In 2013 Peter was diagnosed with a blood cancer, which shook our world. Our faith in God was certainly tested.
Lance, Emma’s partner respected Peter for his wisdom and guidance and became a father figure to him. In 2015 and 2021 we became grandparents to Nathaniel and Isabella. They both loved Peter so much and were such a joy to us both.
In 2019 we sold our house in Sydney and moved to South Australia, as Peter got a job offer from his brother-in-law to be his Accountant.
Peter and I enjoyed our time in South Australia together, but Peter's illness got worse, and he went to Heaven to be with his Heavenly Father on 31 January 2025. We are all so sad and will miss him so much, but we have faith that one day we will all be together again.
