Don Boadle passed away peacefully in April 2025 at the age of 78, the loving son of the late Ronald and Aylwin Boadle, and brother of Ross and Malcolm. Husband of the late Judith Boadle, he was the cherished father of Mae and Jay, and grandfather of Flynn and Liam.

During his Trinity years Don excelled in swimming. After leaving Trinity he graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney and won a scholarship to pursue higher degree research. He completed his Master of Arts degree and saw a revised version published in 1973 by the European publishing house Nijhoff, the title being ‘Winston Churchill and the German Question in British Foreign Policy, 1918-1922’.

Don spent the years 1974 to 1977 in the UK, studying at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained a Master of Letters degree.

Don was a respected and passionate scholar, academic, lecturer and archivist. In 1972, he was appointed as a Lecturer in History at the then new Riverina College of Advanced Education (RCAE) in Wagga Wagga. He returned to RCAE as a Lecturer when he moved back from the UK in 1977.

In 1994, Don was appointed Manager and then promoted to Director, Archives and Records, of the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Regional Archives. He held a concurrent Senior Lecturer in History at CSU until his retirement in 2006, and then continued as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer until 2017.

An active and supportive community member, Don was also recognised with a medal for 30 years service to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
