Trinity’s annual golf day is essential in keeping Adam Theobald in touch with the School community, especially during periods when there’s less day-to-day contact.
His wife, Fabienne Arora, once worked at the School as a TESS counsellor.
Their son Harrison, 7, won’t start until 2030.
In the meantime, there’s scarcely a golf day he misses.
“Trinity was a big part of my life; it remains a big part of my life, and it will probably be a big part of my son’s life,” the 1999 School Captain explains.
“I love golf, I’m a big fan of the School, and it’s an opportunity to catch up with good friends from my year and other years, too.
“Your relationship with the School goes through waves of intensity – more so, obviously, when you work there or have children there.
“It’s not so intense right now so the golf day is nice way of staying connected and attached to the culture of it all.”
Adam is the founder of Ordermentum, an online ordering system for the wholesale food and beverage industry. It connects 40,000 individual venues with their suppliers, employing 100 staff around Australia.
He is quick to acknowledge the part the School played in preparing him for what it took to make his way in life.
“I was super lucky to have a great education at Trinity. I was afforded a great education with fantastic resources and facilities but the School also maintained a level of humility. That groundedness comes out of Trinity students in ways that aren’t always evident at other schools.
“It’s a pretty important trait to have in business when you have to start from the bottom, doing everything that needs to be done yourself, fixing all the things that no-one wants to fix.”
The 2024 golf day was more memorable than most for one thing – a rare hole-in-one from Liam Clayton (’22), who aced the par three ninth at Pennant Hills with a pitching wedge.
The winners were a foursome from the Class of ’01 - Greg Robson, Lloyd Smith, Andrew Frith, and James Bale.
Runners-up were Jonathan Chen (’86), David Thich, Steven Chan, and Philip Haw (’96).
Third place went to co-sponsor Warwick Polley’s team, which included Peter Muscat, Ben Polley, and Phil Barber.
The wooden spoon went to the ’75 threesome of Rod Fowler, Zane Davis, and Norm Bush.
